Comprehensive Sports Information, publisher of Covers.com, announces name change to SportsDirect Inc.:
As business expands to cover multiple operations, a new name reflects the depth and variety of content for the website publisher and its customers.

Comprehensive Sports Information, a leader in online sports news and statistics, today announced a corporate name change to SportsDirect Inc (www.sportsdirectinc.com).
The company began in 1995 as the publisher of Covers.com. Over the last nine years Covers.com has grown to be one of the largest sports gaming sites online and is viewed by millions of visitors annually. Comprehensive Sports has since expanded to create successful e-commerce ventures and develop sports content packages for news outlets such as USAToday.com and MSNBC.com.
While the parent company will now be known as SportsDirect, all properties, such as Covers.com, will continue to operate as usual.
"When we started the company our focus was primarily on our consumer properties," said Paul Lavers, Founder and CEO of SportsDirect. "But with the success of our content partnerships and diversification of products we felt it was time to build a brand that was more inclusive of our growing business, and SportsDirect is it."
So far 2004 has been an eventful year for SportsDirect. In January the company opened a European subsidiary in Galway, Ireland to manage expansion in the region. SportsDirect also purchased and moved into a new headquarters at 77 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. The company currently employs 60 people in a variety of roles. The name change to SportsDirect is effective immediately.
